Assignments: JOURNEYS

1. Draw the game board of your life, or of a specific journey you are on, or a specific time in your life. What are the start and finish? Write or draw what each square represents on this journey. Color code your squares. If this is your life, you could make important days red, like birth, baptism, marriage, etc. You could make emotionally or spiritually important events blue. Are there pitfalls in this game? Where have you had to go back two spaces and try again?

2. Draw a road. Where is this road leading? It could be a specific goal or an actual destination. It could be a trial you are going through. What do you see on the road before you? What is behind you?

3. Where do you want to go? If you could travel anywhere, where would it be? It could be one ideal place, or several places. It could even be a state of mind. You can make a collage, a list, a drawing, or just write about your thoughts. Do you have a plan of getting there?

Creative Challenge: Get Ugly

Are you a perfectionist? Try doing a quick and ugly page. Don’t worry about how it looks. It could be a freehand writing with a ball-point pen. It could be a list of things you need to get done this summer. It could be a bunch of doodles. Try to break free of how you normally journal and break all the rules.
